I got covid a week ago. I was absolutely miserable and I’m still not completely over it.

    Hope’s•angelita says:

Hope u recover; I think it depends on variant…my friends recovered quickly but I had it bad throughout the holiday…finally feel “okay” after weeks (vaxxed)

    Le Shiro says:

    @Halle D no

    Scott says:

@Le Shiro Ouch. When you pull through, consider getting vaccinated. Getting it once doesn’t mean you can’t get it again, and vaccination helps.

    Aquizzical says:

@Scott there is 0 people who have died from it after catching it for the 2nd time. 0.

    Scott says:

@Aquizzical You think no one has died from a second infection of Covid? I _know_ of one. It’s very unusual, but of course it has happened. In fact the very first US omicron death _was a reinfection_ and this has been well publicized. Where dd you get this absurd claim from?

    Cheète says:

yes!!! YES!!! We number 1 again.

    Duncan Stewart says:

The booster for children would be due 6 months or more from their second dose anyway. 🤔 Many do not need it just yet. A booster can be given at 3 months to prevent any symptomatic infection with omicron. Some at risk people need exceptions which the doctor should have. Co morbid are always at-risk in a pandemic world.

I criticized Trump’s CDC and I say the same for Biden’s CDC. If they don’t know, don’t speak until they do.

    Scott says:

No, that’s not how it works. When people are dying, sometimes you have to act on incomplete information. And Covid-19 has had two major (and a bunch of minor) variants, so conditions on the ground change over time. And so will the guidance. There is no fix for that.
I’d say overall they are doing what they can in these circumstances. They need to balance hospitalizations, the available PPE and test supplies, the economy, and a population that balks at their advice. No easy answers.

    MaltLiquor45 says:

I thought this was supposed to be mild?!

    Azure'Ra Morganna says:

No… A doctor in SA mentioned it was mild bit thst they didn’t have enough data yet. So people only heard the mild part. So everyone got a False sense of security. This is why false info is so dangerous

    Scott says:

It’s not. It may be milder than delta, but some of the recent data is throwing even that into question in some places. Regardless, omicron hasn’t fully replaced delta yet (and might not) so you don’t want to risk it regardless. People are being way too flip about this, and that’s why hospitals are starting to fill again. February might be rough.

    George Miller says:

I wish we can just get this over with and i’m sorry for everyone who died from covid i mean everyone in the whole world is gonna die even I’m gonna die someday, most people died from suicide, cancer, heart attacks car accidents alot of things

    Leo Swath says:

Omicron is so much milder It could help us reach herd immunity sooner…then Vaxers and Non Vaxers can Get together again at the ball park.. This is the American way let’s not forget who we are..,
Stay healthy.. and see you on the other side of Covid 🇺🇸😅

    Scott says:

I don’t think we’ll be reaching herd immunity.

    Mats Svensson says:

A new study published on the preprint server bioRxiv assesses the antiviral activity of stenoparib against four severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants of concern (VOCs). This study also focuses on the inhibition of the SARS-CoV-2 Alpha variant by a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir.

The researchers of the current study also evaluated the inhibitory action of a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir against the Alpha variant. When combined, the drugs acted synergistically and plaque inhibition increased to over 90%

Since stenoparib inhibits a host protein, the antiviral activity of stenoparib should inhibit all variant strains. The current study explored the activity of stenoparib against four SARS-CoV-2 strains including the SARS-CoV-2 67 Germany/BavPat1/2020 wild-type strain (wt), as well as the Alpha, Beta, Gamma SARS-CoV-2 VOCs

    Jim Bone says:

So we’re just going to ignore the fact that the CDC came out and admitted that these admissions are not admitted for COVID but with COVID??

    Scott says:

We’ve known this for months. So? The CDC is counting cases, and those are cases. The CDC is WAY more concerned about all the cases that never get counted.

    Jim Bone says:

@Scott Many people out there did not “know this for months”. They believed everything the media told them. “So”? Are you kidding me? Your response is “So”? My sides are aching from laughing. To any sentient human being it means THAT THE NUMBERS ARE VASTLY OVERSTATED. These people were admitted for something other than COVID, and called “COVID” case just for testing positive. Glad I could help you. Might want to run along…instead of running your mouth.

    Scott says:

@Jim Bone The numbers have always been cases. When you could get hospitalization numbers at all, it was well known that they were counting covid tests.

I don’t know, maybe you listen to media channels that fluff over details. I listen to epidemiologists – anyone can, some of them publish newsletters – and none of this was a surprise. And to an epidemiologist, you have covid if you test for it, because that means the virus got into your system. You could be asymptomatic, but since the disease spreads asymptomatically, that still counts as infection and something you track so you can see how contagious it is.

If you’re complaining that the media has been hysterical at points, yeah, probably. But you don’t get medical advice from the media. You get it from doctors.

    MD Zaid says:

I don’t know if they lost their mind’s or what, why dont they shut down schools / colleges / Universities. They themselves says that you can get covid in 20 min with cloth mask, and n95 whole day is very difficult for children. It’s just about 4-6weeks , let it paas then attend school.
