    I'm not Norm says:

Do you own a doghouse was Professor of Logic Merch: https://www.redbubble.com/people/robtzn/shop?asc=u

    G Allmandinger says:

    U.

    N Foster says:

I believe you were Norm. Now hopefully a loved one has control of this account. Love you, wish I met you in real life. This stand up is what got me to think you were the best comic of all time. Dirty Johnny is just amazing.

    Jonathan Jollimore says:

So how many times did they call him Bob Faget? I am sure he never hear that one before

    J Salazar says:

    RIP, Bob

    Moonstoned says:

I love that he’s making the audience just as uncomfortable as who he’s roasting. Everyone just has to sit and suffer through this absolute kamikaze. A masterpiece.

    Alec Skinner says:

@ROOKTABULA And if people do find this funny, there is a good chance it is. I’m a professor of logic you know…at the university of science no less.

    Alec Skinner says:

    @Sean Yes…now you get it.

    Mike O'Malley says:

Rest in peace, Norm. I cannot believe it. My all-time favorite.

    Covid is communism says:

@David Day Have you checked out Ryan Long’s stuff?
    That guy makes me laugh.

    David Day says:

@Covid is communism No. Hadn’t heard of em… any particular video/clip?

    Covid is communism says:

    @David Day lol…….https://youtu.be/IfFUXgLKT0k

    Bam Elanr says:

    RIP bob

    Strange Wayfaring Stranger says:

Now Bob is gone too. So I hope they are hanging out.

    Red Seaford says:

Can’t believe he passed away. Dude had cancer for 9 years and didn’t tell the public because he didn’t want it to affect his comedy, by changing the way they viewed it. He was a true comedian!!

    Bret Hitchcock says:

How people reacted to prior is why

    W D says:

Yeah I think it is both

Bill burr just literally said ‘I didn’t know he was sick’ in all seriousness, and it made me lol, ty Norm

    Jan Berkemeier says:

@Smark Shillington, DFCO Interestingly, this move would be an almost direct reversal of another posthumous punchline delivered by “Goon Show”-author Spike Milligan, who had his headstone engraved with the words “I told you I was ill” in gaelic

    Scott E says:

    “Battle Cancer”

    M McCord says:

We’ll never get another one like you, Norm Macdonald. Rest in Peace you goofy bastard 😥

    Mike Strickland says:

He was just an “old chunk of coal” now I get it.

    Mat J says:

RIP Norm… The world will miss you…

    Account says:

Only one day has passed and it already doesn’t feel the same.

    Windows 95 says:

Coming back to this after the sad news. I’m speechless, never thought I’d see the day. Rest in peace, Norm.

    DangerousDavies2008 says:

    Same here. RIP Norm.

    Brah, Trumpwon,bigly says:

It’s gonna be one of those days, damnit. Norm was one we never wanted to lose.

    2CanSam1000 says:

Things were simpler and happier back your days Windows 95

    John Bonini says:

    You’re a well-wisher. You must’ve murdered Norm in a well.

    majcrash says:

@2CanSam1000 Maybe simpler, but not happier. I wish I could have back all the hours I spent reinstalling that pos.

    Schmack Monte says:

Coming back here after hearing of his untimely death. No one did it quite like Norm. Rest In Peace you legend

    dan h says:

    I cant believe he’s gone.

    Vincent Fragale says:

I didn’t even know he was sick

    Glen Wigmore says:

@Vincent Fragale i see what you did there 😏

    Aying Torres says:

How can anyone be deliberately unfunny yet is hilariously funny at the same time? Norm was a genius.

    Dyler Turden says:

    King of the Slow Burn.

    Adam Johnson says:

Norm is the only comedian who could have done a full set without saying a word and it would have killed.

It would be really easy to get him to do it too. Just say “remember Norm when you’re out there entertaining the people – make sure you talk”.

    mrgreatbigmoose says:

You can’t tell until the end, but Bob Saget is on the verge of tears at the end of this un-roast. Not tears of laughter, real tears quivering lip and all. It was a touching moment underlined but the lack of swearing that hit like a hammer how much admiration Norm had for Bob.

    MegaCasperC says:

It’s almost like he’s going out of his way to not be funny

    David Voicecoil says:

To understand this, you should know the producers had said he could be shocking as he wanted, but Norm wasn’t up to the challenge, so he tried to do this ‘reversal’ instead, and as you can see, results were still lame, similar to how Hannibal Buress at the Bieber roast declared he was going to ‘tear up the script’ and everyone though it was about to become ‘shocking’, but the improv was as unfunny as the jokes he ripped up. But at least Norm’s dead now.

    Searpiano2 says:

This brilliant man passed away an hour ago, quite frankly I’m in shock that his unbelievable comedic mind and his perfect timing aren’t going to grace the screen again, Norm you made some incredibly sad times much much happier and the world certainly seems sadder today

    Red Wolf says:

He trolled everyone so hard here. He knew exactly what he was doing.

    John Tucker says:

He was trolling roasts while giving a roast, and nobody there knew it but him. Andy Kaufman level stuff.

    iroll says:

@John Tucker Oh, they knew it. There were definitely some peers there. If you’ve never seen Bob Saget’s pre-Full House stuff you’re missing out. How the hell he got cast as a clean 80s sitcom dad, I will never know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dv0O_Qrwm0

    John Tucker says:

    @iroll lol…yep. good call.

    Duane Tom says:

It was so meta, roasting a roast.

    L M says:

Because it was before the internet.

    Brah, Trumpwon,bigly says:

Norm laughing at his own jokes is the only thing better than Norm’s jokes

    rjs617 says:

Norm explaining his jokes is a close second. Somehow, when he waits the perfect amount of time and explains the punchline, the joke gets so much funnier.

    Horsehide says:

@rjs617 As Johnny Carson used to say, exactamundo!

    Flirken1 says:

Him saying “you’re a f*cking dog face” had me rolling

    Ati45 Guy says:

The beauty is they told him he had to be shocking, so he chose to be shockingly bad on purpose. True Norm style. Rip

    DoomPlague says:

I think the fancy term for it is “subverting expectations” and no one did as well as Norm.

    Smurf Nazis Must Die says:

And He was Still better than “The Situation” roasting Trump.

    Thunda1986 says:

Turns out he loved Sagat so much, he couldn’t bring himself to actually say anything mean to him, so did the lamest jokes he could find

    Berry Reading says:

The producers told him to really be vicious and not hold anything back… this is what his roast of any celebrity or comedian would’ve been if the producers told him what to do 😄 don’t hold back! Well he sure didn’t 👍

    Archer Cole says:

This was as funny and brilliant as all of Norm’s comedy was! We will miss you Norm as you brought so much fun and joy to us even when we felt like nothing could!

    Elisandro De Leon says:

Ive heard of Norm’s humor referred to as “anti-comedy”. This segment really highlights that.
I love that he can be funny by purposely being not funny.

    Laz Maroulis says:

@Robbie Hamilton leave him, he’s clearly serving a youthful purpoise.

    GiggleBlizzard says:

I’m not sure I’d call it anti-comedy myself. To me anti-comedy is more about dry jokes without punchlines, something so unfunny it becomes funny, and it is very closely related to absurd comedy where something is so unpredictably ridiculous it becomes funny. Norm McDonald doesn’t do any of that, he tells real jokes with real punchlines but the jokes are simple, sometimes generic and predictable. Norm’s comedy is carried by how he sort of stumbles in his delivery as if he’s so excited in anticipation of the joke he’s telling, the way he always looks like he’s about to burst into laughter at any second over whatever is going on in his head.

His style reminds me of a mix between Rodney Dangerfield and Dean Martin. The jokes he comes up with are simple, slapstick like Dangerfields one liners, but he tells them with the charm and “high on life 24/7” smugness of Martin.

    tiesthijsthejs says:

In an interview with TNYT he was asked about anti-comedy and he really didn’t like to be associated with that term. He professed his love for actual jokes as a craft and threw the alternative scene under the bus. I personally believe it was no doubt a great tool on his belt, but I guess it’s also because he got forced into corners and then used it as an out, while generally just being a pure joke teller, albeit never really about the joke, more the joke of the story around the joke.

    Marcus Maloney says:

    He isn’t purposely unfunny though…..

    Jon Smith says:

@tiesthijsthejs I always thought when Norm was pulling this sort of thing, he was really just challenging himself to make the jokes funny. And HE was always laughing. And not in the trolling sort of way where comedy is a walled-off concept for the folks who “get it”. Even when a joke bombed, he was always on the audience’s side.

The “moth joke” kinda encapsulates it. The setup is that he got the joke from the driver Conan sent to bring him to the show. Conan asks why they don’t just bring on the driver next time? And Norm says, “Wait ’til you hear me do it.”

    Matthew Boyce says:

Dude has a huge heart. Anytime he takes the time to appreciate his friends he almost breaks down in tears.

    Zach Warner says:

Took the words right out. Agreed.

    Moon Saloon says:

He seemed so irreverent, but he was so sensitive. He was an enigma, through and through

    Sir Mount says:

I don’t think he ever once joked with malice in his heart. Even when he was teasing someone, you could tell it was never with a mean spirit.

    DarkLight says:

This is Norm being unfunny as possible but at the same time being funny….his delivery and facial expressions are important to see when you’re dealing with Norm.
    Love you buddy RIP

    David Kopec says:

The only comedian ever that could still completely kill on a roast with a joke book from the 50s.

    Chiller326 says:

It was a joke book from the 50s for jokes to make at retirement parties. The jokes were written for people born in the 1800s.

    Jerry says:

For real, I heard tens of people laughing

    THUMB DOWN BUTTON says:

Ricky Gervais! Is the mack daddy of roasts No1 will ever beat what he did.

    Scott Williams says:

Yeah dude he completely crushed the room I could barley hear his set over the hysterical crowd

    Geoffrey Godshall says:

Those that are”in the know”, know this killed. I had a chance to speak to Norm about a year after this and told him as much. He just said, ” yeah, killed my career a bit”. It’s crystal clear he knew what he was doing. No regrets. RIP dude!

    Christopher says:

Can you explain what they knew?

    VidGamer123 says:

@Christopher I imagine it was a conversation between the producer and Norm, where he was told to be as brutal as possible. Norm, however, decided to go against the grain and use some pretty lame jokes. Either out of respect for Bob or because he’s just contrarian like that, we’ll never know.

    Omar Mickelson says:

Hope Bob and Norm can still exchange jokes in the afterlife. I can’t believe we lost both of these giants of comedy in just a matter of months. RIP

    Frank Koshel says:

I didn’t even know he was sick!

    Peter says:

    I’m here from reddit too
