Labour and some Tory MPs are demanding immediate answers on whether Boris Johnson attended a drinks event in the Downing Street garden during lockdown.

In heated scenes in the Commons, Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said the PM "can run, but can't hide" from scrutiny over the May 2020 gathering.

And Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said Mr Johnson must quit if found to have broken Covid rules.

The PM has declined to say whether he went to the drinks.

    Lina Vlo says:

So Boris Johnson is not to blame if he happened to walk into a party that was happening in Downing Street because it’s his “house” but he is NOT responsible for a party that was happening in his “house”???
What kind of a joke is this???!

    Robyn Hoode says:

    @Biggus Dickkus they’re (you’re)

    Biggus Dickkus says:

    @Ross Kneebone
Well you know what l mean, as such he’s responsible for what goes on in it and he knew, he’s even admitted it now.. Sort of. 😂

    Ross Kneebone says:

@Steve E Now that IS plausible.

    Ross Kneebone says:

@Satoshi Nick Szabo Of course we are … unfortunately.

Geography isn’t your strong point, is it. UK certainly is a country in Europe.

What you were trying to say is UK is no longer a member of the EU.

It’s your fuzzy thinking that lets the side down.

No more posting for you my lad.

Until we see your A level Geography certificate.

    Outrageous behaviour.

    Ross Kneebone says:

@Biggus Dickkus Sort of … quite.

Surely the Security Services must have known. It’s there duty to know where the PM is at all times as they are paid to protect him.

They are laughing at you just the same as the rest of us who ignore all this rubbish!! Wake up!!

    ANTI NWO says:

@Charles M most of these idiots are labour voters that want lockdowns…..like labour do.

    KirsaKaboom - says:

We should pass a law that anyone going for office or work in any government/policing department should pass a rigorous psychological / mental health assessment

    Celeste Constantine says:

They are clear in their message. They can literally do what they want. If any new laws are written it should be that If a politician gets caught in a lie, they should be hung. They will always be slippery but if they get caught…

Harsh? Johnsons attempt to even excuse his behaviour by offering an explanation (a callous one at that) is appalling. A complete insult to the public. Total disrespect for every vulnerable person who lay in a nursing home, confused, frightful, alone and nearing the end of their life / dying whilst they enjoyed wine and socialised. Bring back hanging.

    Nadia Smithers says:

Absolutely agree with this whole heartedly!!!

    Kris de Vos Music says:

    just like the police should.

anyone with power or authority usually has to have some form of personality disorder due to their need for demand of respect.

    Ana Martins says:

Totally agree!!!! Boris and Trump are very similar. But in the end of the day is the voters that put them in power.

@thepodbaydoorshal my standard of living has increased and all my freedoms are intact. If you want to follow government guidelines then be my guest. You have a brain so use it. Many people have continued on with their lives as normal. It’s OK to be scared, maybe one day you will question yourself and start acting on your own free will instead of following what the TV tells you or a man in a suit says.

    Paul Astle says:

To answer the Deputy Labour leaders question about Boris Johnson’s honour and integrity. IMO, No politician in the UK has true ‘Integrity’, most MP’s are there for ‘personal’ endorsement rather than public service. You only need to look at some Conservative MP’s news letters to see that every photo is of them not the hard working, long suffering public they are ‘supposed’ to represent. Honesty and Justice for us ‘peasants’ is a thing of the past, only the rich and famous can afford to pursue Justice unfortunately they can also buy their way out of accountability and avoid Justice, just like Boris will 🤔😮

    bikerjon1 says:

It’s clear what they think of us.

    ANTI NWO says:

    @Paul Astle LABOUR = BORRIS

    Linus says:

The Tories think they can redeem themselves by getting rid of Boris, as if the rest of them don’t also think the rules don’t apply to them. They make rules for us plebs to follow, not for themselves.

    pompeychris81 says:

@Paul Astle Boris is on a level of his own though Paul. Got to go

    ANTI NWO says:

@pompeychris81 labour fully backed Doris Johnson

    Polymathic Talk says:

Exactly. If we are gullible to buy all their scary stories and comply without challenging the narrative, then why should we blame them. Have a look at my assessment on why Boris should resign-let’s have a debate, so comment on my clip watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWKKjExxrKA

    ANTI NWO says:

@Magdalene Madrigal are you angry labour backed boris Johnson?

    Roy Pulver says:

And while Johnson was doing this, ordinary people were unable to visit their loved ones in hospital or attend funerals, as per his orders 😢

    Ross Kneebone says:

@Robin McAra Of course you’re lost. No surprise there then.

And your mother most certainly isn’t a psychiatrist … far too convenient you just happen to have one handy.

Pointless you trying to respond, it’s looks as if you’re stretched way beyond your posting ability.

    26CLT says:

@Graham Cook Except… that’s not really true. The Victorians were usual for bothering to imprison anyone who wasn’t straight. Just before then it wasn’t uncommon for Georgian and especially Tudor and Stuart nobility to have male lovers on the side of their marriages. In the Middle Ages group promiscuity was a thing, and the ancient period? The Romans and Greeks seemed overwhelming encouraging of male on male relationships, with many very famous and celebrated people having additional male lovers or outright preferring men- many Roman emperors, or Greek heroes like Achilles, not to mention how it was institutionally expected that young men and older men pair up. This isn’t even looking outside of Europe either, where some places like Japan only began looking harshly on such things in the late 1800s and had a long long recorded history of liberal personal lives.
The whole idea that there’s about a dozen non straight people across the planet, who are somehow complete random mutations yet keep appearing despite supposedly being regularly killed off, just doesn’t make sense or follow any real world logic or evidence of recorded human behaviour.

    Flim 7 says:

@Graham Cook so I take that as a no?

    Flim 7 says:

@26CLT as Graham said, stupid is as stupid does.

    Flim 7 says:

    @Sean Dyer well said.

“Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”
    -George Orwell

    Makmak says:

Superb, but let’s be fair and give the full quote – “”Political language — and with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists — is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind”

…lest people think that non mainstream parties are any different in their distortions and outright lies to grab power. We have, in modern parlance, a “systemic” problem here, not just a Conservative problem.

    Keith Snider says:

I can hear them at the party raising a toast saying “let them eat cake”.

    Andy Mills says:

A man sacked from two previous jobs for lying, is caught lying, shock horror story.
I always prefer to have a PM who has some idea how many children he has fathered.

    Wim Seffelaar says:

Well, hang on a minute! Boris has done wrong and must be punished but he wasn’t there on his own… all people that attended must be punished!
People have been dying alone due to restrictions, responsibility must be taken…

    J Steadman says:

Yeah there were others there too, and it will all have been noted and names taken for security reasons.

Even the people that were invited and didn’t go are just as much to blame for hiding it and allowing it to happen.

    forlatagate1 says:

    scheiss kommandant says:

rhetorical questions are lost on you eh?

    Andrew Deans says:

Let Frank be Frank, and leave Boris to be Boris.- Boris cannot be both Frank and Boris at the same time.

    TheBraveBraveSirRobin says:

Daft question on how the PM might have been ‘busy’ getting the vaccine program going when there was no vaccine at the time and wouldn’t be for months. Was he busy working hard in research labs trying to create the vaccine ? No ! What he was doing is what he always does, doing things for his own benefit or for the benefit of his rich mates whilst doing sod all for the rest of us. He’s got to go, and got to go NOW !

    Richard says:

Charlie chaplin’s speech still holds the best speech ever on politics. These folks don’t represent none of us at all!

    BD4 says:

    Everyone that’s defending Boris is missing a huge point . . .

They are assuming that everyone that was at the party was working in the Downing Street offices that day and so it’s not a big deal to have a socially distanced drink after work.

    NO!
