    John Arthos says:

If he knew his COVID status and went around hugging kids unmasked he should retire from the game.

    natasha says:

Completely agree about the atp cup format. When I was looking at the schedule 90% of matches just seemed boring

    Blake Haynes says:

So analytical and poised as always! Thank you Gill for the amazing tennis coverage!

    mike tomlin says:

To say ''it does not look good'' for Novak might be the understatemnet of the year, unless evidence manifests to offer Novak more support!

    mike tomlin says:

At the moment, although deportation still seems 50/50, you can't watch the Aussie Open in person, or work at the Aussie Open, if unvaccinated, but you can play in the Aussie Open, if unvaccinated!! Is this not absurd, or disgusting?

    Michael Renner says:

I just took a COVID test today. The results are not available for three days. The most accurate tests will take 3 days, so the question is not Dec 16th but Dec 19th.

    Paul Brown says:

Gill raises one issue that needs some s'plaining. First I don't think Gill even GET's that the core of the issue here is whether Naturally acquired immunity is still seen as valid—that's when one contracts a illness and then recovers. The body then has its own naturally produced antibodies and a degree of immunity. Until last year Natural Immunity was consider BEST CASE even above and beyond vaccinated immunity. Now suddenly only Big Pharma with their mRNA vaccines offer the ONLY valid levels of Immunity. I don't put any trust in Big Pharma or Big Government and I ain't buying it. That whole issue is really at the center of the Exemption Novak was granted. It has nothing to do with a special dispensation offered to Tennis Star Novak.

Gill you've been in the trenches here long enough to have picked up this gist of what's going on. Stop acting like you just got off the boat yesterday.—but YES your points about Novak needing to explain his lack of social distancing immediately after he tested Positive. It really does need explaining.

Now there's a new wrinkle. For the time being I am seeing it as unsubstantiated rumor on inuendo. But that too is going to boil down to YES or NO did Novak mislead Authorities when asked about his travel in the previous 14 days. We've seen a lot of BS picked up by the press and reported as true. That is never ending.
If Novak wasn't respectfully cautious after testing positive and IF he lied about his travel than he is so Fked that there will be no-where to run and no where to hide from the ensuing fallout. His family has already gone into panic mode when asked details on these two issue. That's not promising.

I have supported NOLE From the Beginning. IF either of these two issues have Legs then Novak will see 100% of support for him evaporate in a day or two. We don't know yet but it looms like a sword of Damocles over his head. He HAD to KNOW when he challenged the rescinding of his visa ALL his answers and signed formed were going to be gone over with a fine tooth comb. If there were known infirmities to his position he should have taken the next flight out of Australia then.

I'm still withholding judgement pending the verification of what for now, is more rumor than fact. But we're going to know more details very soon.

    mats mattison says:

Djokovic was filmed playing tennis on the streets of Belgrade on Dec. 25, and there were photos and video of him training in Spain in early January. Lock him up. Hes a liar!

    slc2466 says:

If nothing else, it was great to see Rafa win a title so early in the year, keeping his streak going (19 years and counting of winning at least one ATP title).

    Mirko M says:

I do live in Belgrade, and have done a PCR testing in the same building that Novak did (Batut Institut) 2 times since the pandemic have started. Once I got the results in the evening by email in Spam folder, and once almost 2 days after, I was so nervous back then that I could miss my trip to Croatia… Anyway, this is my experience, and I do agree that this is something that Novak should be asked about.

    oliver zivkovic says:

The most logical explanation would be that he was positive but did not believe that covid was dangerous and therefore did not take any precautions. Because if he wanted to falsify the test, he would at least make sure that he would not be in public then, so that the deception would be convincing. So I think he was really positive but he didn’t care about it. That is much more logical to me than falsifying a test. In any case, this looks very bad to him and he will have to explain. I hope he just won’t say he didn’t know the test results for a few days because that would really be untrue.

    MrAtaguas says:

Canada winning ATP cup was kinda like Felix's version of learning how to bike I think. Often times you'll see beginner bikers that can balance on a bike but as soon as they realize that the training wheels are off they lose balance I feel like Felix suffered from a similar lack of confidence in his abilities and winning the ATP cup was like convincing himself that he can win tournaments albeit with "training wheels" on aka relying on team members to do so.

    ognjen kalabA says:

Her we go again, making assumptions without evidence. Novak didnt get resaults immediately !!!!! He is tested on a regular basis, he didnt suspect covid infection at the time !!!! He is not a sociopath that infects others on purpose. This is a wich hunt !!!!

    Stefan Sindjelic says:

You didn't comment that Nadal was not in quarantine 2 weeks, he came in Australia after 11 days, even that is mandatory for EVERYONE, even for vaccinated people, even for Ozzie citizens.

    Gold Wolf says:

    Deportovic NoVAX back to Serbia!

    hrvoje14 says:

ND didn’t create the exemption process (nor was it created for him), it’s been open to everyone, not just ND/tennis players. Seems to me Australians for some reason have not been aware that the exemption process has existed at all, which is weird.

    Brad Williams says:

Great Monday Match Analysis! Quick Q: regarding Rafa & performance in current state, do you think his serve (note # of aces vs. Cressy in particular) looks any better than what it has been?

    Persona Grata says:

Looks like the one-party system is the best way to govern the country. All this mess in Australia with letting people entering the country, the immigration itself, the communication between the State and the Feds, political fights between parties and political opponents,…
And about Novak, just go and get the freaking vaccine, I don't see what's the big deal? How many times do you want to get infected by Covid-19 in your life? Once every 6 months?

    Klikka1 says:

How could Nadal enter Australia only 11 days after he was tested positive? He should be in quarantine for 14 days and nobody is talking about it!

    Krishna Ramachandran says:

Apparently NYtimes journalist has tweeted that his test results have a QR code that when you click shows a "negative "result. It's possible the report was edited and changed to positive to help him get an exemption.

    CARLO HERMOCILLA says:

Novak would be doomed if he and his team fabricated the result of his COVID test or just ignored and acted insensitively on his COVID positive status. Aside from being banned from OZ Open for three years, he could face fraud and public threat charges. Worse, others or the entire ATP would put him under suspension for some time. Eventually, his legacy will be forever tarnished.

    Bubu Baba says:

I think it's only fair that the Border Force detains Rafa and questions him about his illegal entry into the country, only 10 days after testing negative. If we are being fair, he should definetely have his visa canceled, and possibly even get deported. At the very least they should cancel his fraudulent visa, and go from there.

    Marlene Buls says:

He will not be fine tennis-wise , you should know better. Of course. He has lost fitness , it's obvious, plus the mental stress will be too much . He is great at focus, but this is too much, the media is demonizing him and determined to destroy him- the media which you are part of. Why don't you address that, Gill?

    RaggedM88 says:

Sorry Gill, but sounds like you are going to have to keep talking about Djokovic for the next few days. This thing is just getting to the middle.

    Nick Bender says:

They all look bad equally? No way. The judge disagrees.

    Plant Power says:

He is not yet confirmed for the open
